Children’s Mindfulness classes 6-12 years
Children's Mindfulness classes 6-12 years
One-hour class, Children's Group, 4:00pm Tuesday. Price includes all art and craft materials. Our children are growing up in a dominant digital world where they are constantly distracted. Therefore, daily life experiences can become challenging and when they are faced with a significant life challenge and they feel all those big emotions (such as sadness, loneliness and frustration), many of them haven’t learnt strong resilient life skills. This leads to the growing rate of anxiety and depression. Mindfulness meditation is a micro-counselling technique regularly recommended by professionals. Alite Mind is a supportive space where children can develop and maintain these skills. The goal is for the children to maintain these lifelong skills to use as their support system whenever they are faced with challenging situations. Each class is different, interactive, creative and fun. Classes incorporate fun mindful movement (with modifications if necessary), differing arts and crafts, group chat/discussion, musical instruments (no experience necessary), sensory awareness and a short guided mindful meditation. The focus for each class changes every week, but the main theme is learning about mindfulness within each of us and how to tap into it by learning skills that are easy to remember and useful in all life situations. We learn about our inner state, emotions, our bodies and brain, awareness of our senses and how these can be one of our best sources to support us and more. Natalie Michels has a Working With Children clearance and is Child Safe Environments-compliant.
