Creating Space for Deep Rest and Restoration

A Beautiful Collaboration with Suriya Yoga

On Sunday afternoon, I had the absolute pleasure of coming together with Scott from Suriya Yoga to create a space for rest, stillness and deep restoration.

29 beautiful souls joined us for 90 minutes of slowing down, breathing deeply and stepping away from the busyness of everyday life.

There is something incredibly powerful about a room full of people giving themselves permission to simply… rest.

Scott guided everyone through a beautiful Yin Yoga practice, inviting the body to soften, release and unwind. I then had the privilege of leading a Yoga Nidra meditation, allowing each person to settle into a place of profound rest and calm.

A Space to Slow Down and Simply Be

One of the most touching moments was seeing so many people drift into a deep, restful sleep during the meditation.

Afterwards, several shared that they hadn’t realised just how much they needed it. They spoke about feeling safe, comfortable and deeply calm… feelings they don’t often experience in the fast pace of everyday life.

In a world that constantly tells us to do more, achieve more and keep moving, choosing to pause can feel unfamiliar.

Yet it is often in those quiet moments of stillness that our nervous system begins to soften, our minds become quieter and our bodies finally have permission to rest.

Watching the room become so peaceful was a gentle reminder that rest isn’t something we need to earn.

It is something every one of us deserves.

The Power of Giving Ourselves Permission to Rest

So often, rest is pushed to the bottom of our list.

We tell ourselves we will slow down when everything is done.

When the work is finished.

When everyone else is taken care of.

When life feels a little less busy.

But sometimes, we simply need to give ourselves permission to pause.

To breathe.

To be still.

This afternoon was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when we create intentional space for our minds and bodies to slow down.

A Heartfelt Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to Scott from Suriya Yoga for organising this beautiful collaboration.

It was such a pleasure sharing this experience alongside you, and I truly hope it’s the first of many more to come.

And to everyone who joined us… thank you.

Thank you for trusting us, for showing up with open hearts and for allowing us to hold this space for you.

It was an absolute privilege to witness your journey into deep rest.

Until next time…

May you remember that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is simply pause.

I recently attended my first guided meditation session with Natalie at Alite Mind, and it was such a positive experience. As someone whose mind is constantly busy, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to switch off, but Natalie created such a calm, welcoming and supportive environment that I found myself settling into the experience much more than I expected. She has a lovely way of holding the space without any pressure, gently guiding everyone through the session. I left feeling calmer, more grounded and looking forward to coming back. If you’ve been curious about meditation but aren’t sure where to start, I’d highly recommend giving Natalie a try.

I completed Natalie's 5 week Restoring You program earlier this year and I can highly recommend it. Each session is guided by Natalie who absolutely exudes warmth and a generosity of spirit that ensures you feel comfortable with learning the various meditation techniques as she guides you through learning useful tools like journalling and quieting the overthinking mind. I have definitely taken the lessons from these sessions and applied them in my daily life. 💗

I feel blessed to have met Natalie in 2022. Through her own lived experiences Natalie personifies the qualities needed to offer the safe, supportive, and caring space through Alite Mind for women, children and teens. For all her professionalism, Natalie is still able to connect, articulate and meet needs in a personable, fun, but real way as she is completely heart centred in all offerings from counselling one on one, workshops, and guiding meditation. She is passionate and a leader in supporting all to shine through their on light. I look forward to spending more time with Natalie and grateful for her support and services.
