Mindfulness & Wellbeing Workshop for Rural Diabetes Nurses
Last Friday, I had the privilege of facilitating a Mindfulness and Wellbeing Workshop at the Rural Diabetes Annual Conference, held at the Education Centre in Hindmarsh.
With approximately 40 nurses in attendance, I was honoured to deliver the final workshop of the two-day conference, offering participants an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience some of the same care and compassion they provide to others every day.
Nurses and healthcare professionals spend their days supporting the wellbeing of others while often managing high workloads, emotional demands, and competing priorities. Finding time to pause and care for themselves can be one of the greatest challenges.
Creating Space to Pause
The workshop was designed to provide both an experience of mindfulness and practical tools that participants could immediately apply in their daily lives and workplaces.
Together we explored:
- Gentle mindful movement to reconnect with the body and release tension.
- The science and benefits of mindfulness for healthcare professionals.
- A creative mindfulness activity completed in pairs, encouraging connection, curiosity, and presence.
- A guided body awareness meditation to support relaxation and nervous system regulation.
Throughout the session, we discussed how mindfulness is not simply about formal meditation. It can be woven into everyday moments, creating small opportunities to pause, reset, and reconnect, even during the busiest of workdays.
Practical Tools for Everyday Wellbeing
Participants received a range of simple mindfulness strategies they could take away and use both professionally and personally.
We explored ways to:
- Manage stress and overwhelm.
- Improve emotional regulation.
- Increase self-awareness.
- Strengthen resilience during challenging situations.
- Enhance focus and concentration.
- Create mindful moments throughout the day.
One of the key messages of the workshop was that mindfulness does not require extra hours in the day. Even brief moments of intentional awareness can help calm the nervous system and support overall wellbeing.

A Wonderful Way to End the Conference
One of my favourite parts of the workshop was watching participants fully engage in the creative activities, share conversations with one another, and embrace the opportunity to simply pause.
The feedback received was incredibly positive. Several participants described the workshop as “the perfect way to end the two-day conference,” while others shared how valuable it was to leave with practical tools they could continue using long after the event.
It was heartening to hear that many participants felt refreshed, relaxed, and better equipped to prioritise their own wellbeing alongside the important work they do supporting others.
Supporting Workplace Wellbeing
Research continues to show that mindfulness can help reduce stress and burnout while improving focus, resilience, emotional regulation, and overall wellbeing. For healthcare professionals working in demanding environments, these benefits can make a meaningful difference both personally and professionally.
At Alite Mind, I provide tailored mindfulness and wellbeing workshops for healthcare teams, community organisations, schools, workplaces and government departments.
Whether your team is looking to reduce stress, strengthen resilience, prevent burnout, or create a culture that supports wellbeing, workshops can be designed to meet the unique needs of your organisation.
If you’re interested in bringing a practical, engaging, and evidence-informed wellbeing workshop to your workplace or conference, I would love to hear from you.

Kind Words
I recently attended my first guided meditation session with Natalie at Alite Mind, and it was such a positive experience. As someone whose mind is constantly busy, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to switch off, but Natalie created such a calm, welcoming and supportive environment that I found myself settling into the experience much more than I expected. She has a lovely way of holding the space without any pressure, gently guiding everyone through the session. I left feeling calmer, more grounded and looking forward to coming back. If you’ve been curious about meditation but aren’t sure where to start, I’d highly recommend giving Natalie a try.
I completed Natalie's 5 week Restoring You program earlier this year and I can highly recommend it. Each session is guided by Natalie who absolutely exudes warmth and a generosity of spirit that ensures you feel comfortable with learning the various meditation techniques as she guides you through learning useful tools like journalling and quieting the overthinking mind. I have definitely taken the lessons from these sessions and applied them in my daily life. 💗
The most relaxed we have all felt and guided through our meditation session. All thanks to Natalie. We will definitely be back for more! What a relaxing, calming, grounding experience!
Alite mind has been such a nourishing experience, Natalie’s warmth and kindness offered me a safe place to share and be heard💛.. I am so grateful to have been so gently held, and guided with wisdom and patience… Thankyou, I look forward to our continued journey, 🙏🏻Diana
As a fellow child counsellor, I highly recommend Alite Mind. Professional, warm and values aligned. Alite Mind understands the real world challenges children face and is committed to teaching practical tools that empower independence and long term success.
I feel blessed to have met Natalie in 2022. Through her own lived experiences Natalie personifies the qualities needed to offer the safe, supportive, and caring space through Alite Mind for women, children and teens. For all her professionalism, Natalie is still able to connect, articulate and meet needs in a personable, fun, but real way as she is completely heart centred in all offerings from counselling one on one, workshops, and guiding meditation. She is passionate and a leader in supporting all to shine through their on light. I look forward to spending more time with Natalie and grateful for her support and services.
