My Recap of a Powerful Session at Fernwood

On Saturday, I had the absolute pleasure of facilitating a Women’s Wellness Workshop at Fernwood Women’s Gym, focused on a topic that so many of us are silently navigating: nervous system depletion, more commonly known as burnout.

Together, we explored what burnout really is, why it happens, especially for women, and how we can begin to recognise the early warning signs. We unpacked the common causes, from perfectionism and people-pleasing to caregiving overload and the relentless “double shift” of balancing work, home, and the invisible mental load.

One of the most empowering parts of the workshop was learning simple, everyday techniques that help signal safety to our nervous system, reminding our bodies that it is okay to rest. A powerful affirmation that echoed through the room was:
“I give myself permission to rest, reset, and protect my energy. I am not a machine. I am a person.”

We also took time for creative expression, a beautiful and insightful activity that opened a window into our subconscious. It sparked meaningful conversations, a few laughs, and the comforting realisation that we are not alone in these feelings of pressure, fatigue, and self-doubt.

These shared moments of honesty, connection, and collective reflection are what make this work so deeply meaningful for me. I am incredibly passionate about supporting women to shift from feeling stressed and exhausted to grounded, rested, and calm.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with open hearts and minds. You are not alone, and you are allowed to rest.
